Laccadives Beach Resort is a four-room boutique property on the shore at Agatti, and the most expensive stay currently listed on this site at ₹25,000 per room per night for two people. What you are paying for is scale rather than facilities: with only four rooms, the resort is quiet in a way larger properties on the island are not.

The rooms

All four rooms are air-conditioned and sea-facing, each with a private balcony looking onto the water. Rooms have a sofa, a flat-screen television and Wi-Fi, and — unusually for Lakshadweep — a bathtub in the bathroom. There are four bedrooms and four bathrooms in total, sleeping up to eight guests.

Beach access

The property sits directly on the shore, a few steps from Agatti’s public beach. Beach chairs and tables are provided for guests. The western side of Agatti is where the lagoon is shallowest and calmest, which is what makes swimming and wading straightforward here for most of the season.

Food

There is no restaurant on site. Three meals a day are prepared fresh and included in the rate — the standard arrangement across Lakshadweep, where independent restaurants are scarce. Cooking is home-style, built around seafood landed locally, with Indian dishes alongside. Meals can be taken in your room or on the balcony.

If you are vegetarian, vegan or have an allergy, tell us when you book rather than on arrival. Supplies reach the island by boat and kitchens cook for the guests they are expecting.

Things to do from here

Snorkelling and diving on Agatti’s reef, boat trips, and walks through the island’s village and along its beaches. The staff arrange boat rides and activities locally. Any island you plan to visit — including day trips to Bangaram or Thinnakara — must be named on your entry permit before you travel.

Rates at Laccadives Beach Resort include meals, which is the normal arrangement across Lakshadweep — there are very few independent restaurants, so properties cook for their guests. All three meals — breakfast, lunch and dinner — are included in the rate. Morning and evening tea are provided as well. Expect fresh fish — tuna in particular — alongside rice, coconut and vegetables brought in by boat. Where it is

Laccadives Beach Resort is at Agatti. Agatti is where most Lakshadweep trips begin. It holds the archipelago’s only airport, so it is the one island you can fly to directly, and it has the widest choice of places to stay. The property is beachfront, so the water is directly in front of you rather than a walk away — on islands this small that is less about convenience than about how the days actually feel.

The lagoon runs along the western side of the island and is shallow enough to wade far out in calm weather. Snorkelling straight from the beach is possible in several places, and boat trips to Bangaram and Thinnakara are arranged locally — though every island you visit must be named on your entry permit.

Getting to Laccadives Beach Resort

Reaching Agatti means a direct flight from Kochi, Goa or Bangalore, or a passenger ship from Kochi. Road transfers on the island are short, since Agatti is barely six kilometres end to end.

Lakshadweep requires an entry permit from every visitor, children and infants included. Much of what is written online about this is out of date — there is no longer any police clearance certificate, sponsorship or ticket requirement. An ID card and a photograph for each passenger is all that is asked. Permits are handled for guests booking through us.

Who this suits

At ₹25,000 a night this is one of the more premium options on Agatti. Children are well catered for, and the shallow lagoons make Lakshadweep an unusually easy destination for young families.

Good to know

• Minimum stay of 2 nights.
• Alcohol is prohibited on the inhabited islands of Lakshadweep.
• December to March gives the most comfortable conditions; April and May bring the clearest water.
• Use reef-safe sunscreen only. Oxybenzone and octinoxate harm the coral you have travelled to see.
• Modest dress is expected once you leave the sand. It is noticed, and appreciated.
• Bring cash for the whole trip. ATM coverage is thin and not every place takes cards.
