What “Verified” Means on Our Listings

Every listing on this site carries a verified badge. This page explains what that badge means, so you know exactly what has and has not been checked.

What we check before a listing goes live

  • The property exists and is currently operating. We are based in Lakshadweep and work directly with the owners and operators, not through a booking wholesaler.
  • We have spoken to the owner or manager. Room count, room types, air conditioning, meal arrangements and location come from them, and we publish only what they confirm.
  • The starting rate is the one the property gave us. It is a starting point, not a quotation — see below.
  • The photographs are of that property. We do not use stock island imagery to represent a room.

What the badge does not mean

We want to be honest about the limits of it.

  • It is not a star rating or a quality grade. Lakshadweep has no hotel classification scheme, and we do not award one of our own.
  • It is not an inspection certificate. We have not audited fire safety, hygiene or building standards, and we do not hold ourselves out as competent to do so.
  • It does not guarantee availability on your dates. Availability is confirmed with the property when you enquire.

Prices

The rate shown on a listing is the current starting rate for that property. What you actually pay depends on your dates, the number of guests, the room type and what is included — meals and transfers frequently are. Rates on the islands move with the season, and we re-check them with owners rather than letting an old figure sit on the page.

Guest ratings and reviews

A star rating appears on a listing only where that property has actually received reviews from guests. A property with no reviews shows no rating; we do not publish a placeholder score, and we do not write reviews ourselves or accept them from anyone who has not stayed.

Reviews are moderated. Anything we identify as automated or fraudulent is removed, and we remove it from the rating as well as from the page.

If something is wrong

Islands change: a property closes for the monsoon, a room type is withdrawn, a rate moves. If you find anything on a listing that is out of date or inaccurate, please tell us and we will check it with the property and correct or remove it.

Listings that we can no longer confirm are unpublished rather than left standing.
