Where it is

Dweep Nivas Tourist Home, Kavaratti, Lakshadweep is at South end beach road, Kavaratti. Kavaratti is the capital of Lakshadweep — a genuine small town on a coral atoll, with more shade, more services and considerably fewer visitors than Agatti. The property is beachfront, so the water is directly in front of you rather than a walk away — on islands this small that is less about convenience than about how the days actually feel.

Kavaratti has a marine aquarium, several mosques of real architectural interest, and a lagoon that is beautiful but served by fewer tourism operators than Agatti. Expect to organise activities locally rather than picking from a menu.

Kavaratti has no airstrip. You arrive either by passenger ship from Kochi, or by flying to Agatti and continuing by boat transfer or helicopter. That extra step is a large part of why the island stays quiet.

Every visitor to Lakshadweep needs an entry permit, children included — there is no minimum age exemption. The process is much lighter than it once was: no police clearance certificate, no sponsor, and no tickets required when you apply.
