The property offers 7 rooms and accommodates up to 14 people. The property has 7 bedrooms and 7 bathrooms. Air conditioning is fitted throughout — welcome in the hot months either side of the monsoon, and largely optional in December and January.

Meals and what is included

As at most Lakshadweep properties, meals are included. With almost no restaurants on the island, this is how eating works rather than an upsell. All three meals — breakfast, lunch and dinner — are included in the rate. Food here means same-day fish, coconut and rice, with vegetables arriving by boat from the mainland. Flag any dietary requirement at the time of booking — kitchens are small and cannot source ingredients at short notice.

Where it is

Coral Paradise Beach Resort Agatti is at Airport Road, Agatti. Agatti is a narrow strip of coral land about six kilometres long, wrapped in one of the clearest lagoons in India, and it is the only island in Lakshadweep with an airstrip. The property is beachfront, so the water is directly in front of you rather than a walk away — on islands this small that is less about convenience than about how the days actually feel.

The lagoon runs along the western side of the island and is shallow enough to wade far out in calm weather. Snorkelling straight from the beach is possible in several places, and boat trips to Bangaram and Thinnakara are arranged locally — though every island you visit must be named on your entry permit.

Getting to Coral Paradise Beach Resort Agatti

Reaching Agatti means a direct flight from Kochi, Goa or Bangalore, or a passenger ship from Kochi. Road transfers on the island are short, since Agatti is barely six kilometres end to end.

Lakshadweep requires an entry permit from every visitor, children and infants included. Much of what is written online about this is out of date — there is no longer any police clearance certificate, sponsorship or ticket requirement. An ID card and a photograph for each passenger is all that is asked. Permits are handled for guests booking through us.

Who this suits

At ₹10,500 a night this sits in the middle of the range for Agatti — comfortable without being a resort. The accommodation is cottage-style rather than hotel rooms, which suits couples and families who want a little separation from other guests. With capacity for 14, it also works for larger groups and families travelling together. • Cash is important here: machines are few and unreliable, and card payment is not widely accepted.
• Use reef-safe sunscreen only. Oxybenzone and octinoxate harm the coral you have travelled to see.
