Lakshadweep has no large hotel chains. Almost everything on the inhabited islands is independently owned, often by island families, and typically has between three and ten rooms. Meals are usually included, because there are very few independent restaurants — which means a nightly rate here is not directly comparable with a room-only rate on the mainland.

Beachfront properties sit directly on the sand rather than a short walk from it. How much do Lakshadweep hotels cost?
Based on current listings on this site:
- ₹4,000 – ₹5,000 — homestays and guesthouses, usually with meals, mostly on Agatti and Kavaratti
- ₹5,001 – ₹12,000 — beachside cottages and mid-range resorts, meals and often transfers included
- Above ₹12,000 — premium sea-facing resorts and the Bangaram private-island properties
Rates vary with dates, occupancy, room type and what is included. December to March is the busiest and most expensive period; October, November and May are noticeably cheaper with conditions still good. The larger cost in most trips is not the room but the flight to Agatti, where seats are limited and fares rise steeply as they fill.
Booking and entry permits
Every visitor to Lakshadweep needs an entry permit, including children, and it must be approved before you travel. The requirement is an ID card and a photograph for each passenger — there is no longer a police clearance certificate, sponsor or ticket requirement.
